Our personal Costa Blanca recommendations
Wondering what to do in our beautiful region? Here you will find lots of useful tips for the Costa Blanca from a real local. Enjoy!
Gastronomy
A feast under the sun
The Mediterranean diet is both healthy and delectable. Just think of the popular tapas, delicious appetizers based on the idea of 'sharing'. The famous paella Valenciana with tender chicken or fresh fish and the lesser-known but equally tasty arroz a banda, a rice dish infused with seafood essence, are worth a try, especially if you can enjoy them together with a sea view.
The paella mixta on the other hand, with fish and meat, was invented for tourists, and is best avoided. The fresh seafood from the region should be tried, including the local gamba roja, a true delicacy -and that translates to the price tag- but also a delicious caldereta de langosta or langoust stew. The cozy tapas culture, which originated in southern Spain, can also be discovered in many atmospheric tapas bars along the Costa Blanca. Sweet tooths should taste turrón, a traditional almond nougat that is very popular among Spaniards, especially around Christmas.
Nor are local wines missing from your culinary journey, with full-bodied red wines from the Alicante region or refreshing white wines from the Marina Alta. Wine lovers should definitely visit one of the local bodegas or wineries. Besides Mediterranean cuisine, the Costa Blanca also offers plenty of international cuisine, with many influences from French gastronomy and other world cuisines. In short, a destination that offers something for everyone!
Beaches
Mediterranean Sea splendor
The Costa Blanca invites you on a sun-drenched journey along pristine beaches with enchanting views. International Albir surprises with Playa del Racó, a charming pebble beach perfect for families.
